Everyone is a winner!

I'm a little behind because I've been working a new temp job as well as Saturdays at the fabric store, and block testing for Quiltmaker Magazine's 100 Blocks Volume 16 has also begun! But since I only had three total entries for my giveaways, I'll give everyone who commented a free issue of Volume 15!  The catch is that I need to figure out who all my commenters are.  I'm guessing my old neighbor Tammy is number one, and I know guild friend Daria is two ... but number three will have to send me an email or Facebook message.  As for the apron ...
If you aren't who I think you are, comment and let me know, and I'll figure out how to get you your goodies!  Same goes for you, Number Three!

Quiltmaker 100 Blocks Volume 15 - my block and second giveaway!

I'm so excited to share my very first published quilt block design (even if only a handful of people out there read this!).  I've been testing for Quiltmaker Magazine's 100 Blocks issues off and on for some time; Volume 15 was my third for which I was a tester.  About halfway through testing I received an invitation to contribute a design, and, inspired by the latest collection by one of my favorite designers - "Brighten Up!" by Me & My Sister - I worked up Paper Doll Dress.
This was inspired by the vintage paper dolls I used to play with as a kid and still strike me nostalgically when I see online.  I love that Vogue used to create paper dolls and dresses to match their season's offerings!
I originally worked this up two ways:  one was done by hand applique with freezer paper templates, and the other as fusible.  I put the two options to my family for voting and the fusible version is what was sent to Quiltmaker.  However, this is the hand applique version here:
I used 3/8" white satin ribbon for the "tabs" to the dress and found that, with the hand applique, it was easiest to machine stitch these down onto the background before sewing on the dress templates.  With the fusible version, I could just place them under when fusing, but did want to quickly blanket stitch the appliques after fusing so nothing went askew!  The rickrack trim just pulled it all together in such a cute way, and, with the ribbon tabs, helped give the block more of a three-dimensional feel.

I had the idea of morphing this into a child's play quilt by creating a cardboard or fabric doll body, and then making the appliques double sided and removable from the quilt with velcro, but I haven't gotten quite that far yet.  I'm still noodling the idea around and talking with people more artistic than me to create the doll image!

Sadly, as I mentioned earlier this week, I did not see the blog tour email from Quiltmaker in time to participate, so this blog post may have few to no views.  But if you are one of the few who already follows me or managed to come here from a link somewhere, I'm giving away this adorable apron from Quiltmaker which features images of all 100 blocks in Volume 15!

I received two, one for being a designer and one for being a tester, so the second one could be yours.  Just comment as to whether you use Instagram (and if you care to, share your user name!  I'm tenquilt5 if you'd like to follow me.).  The giveaway will stay open until midnight on Saturday, May 6.  I'll randomly pick a winner on Sunday - assuming I have any entries at all! - and contact you by email.

Quiltmaker 100 Blocks Giveaway!

It's finally time for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 15 Blog Tour!  This issue's tour theme is "Block Tour Road Rally" ... which is perfect, because since I did not see the invitation to participate formally in time, this is something of a detour!

The main event is happening at Quilty Pleasures all week, and I'm as excited as anyone else to see what's in store ... I hear that some of the posts will include some of the block testers' designs so I may see my own handiwork featured there!

I will be posting later this week about my own block design which was included in this issue, but the good stuff is that I'm also participating in the giveaway.  I'll be giving away five copies of Volume 15 to lucky winners, as well as a bonus prize which will be offered on my block post.  To enter to win one of five issues of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Volume 15, leave a comment on THIS POST telling me about your favorite type of block assembly.  Do you like fusible applique?  Foundation paper piecing?  English paper piecing?  As you know if you have previous volumes of the magazine, it's divided up into pieced, applique and mixed techniques (and my block falls into the third category).  I'm noodling around ideas for a future block design so I'm curious to hear what you love!

The bonus to my missing the opportunity to formally participate in the block tour means you probably have a better chance of winning here ... heck, I may not even get five comments to be able to give away issues, so I will leave the giveaway open until Friday, May 5 at midnight EDT for entries.  Just be sure that you choose a commenting identity which is linked to an email address so that I can let you know if you're a winner!

We have a winner!

Congratulations to Sharon at Vroomans Quilts for winning my extra issue of Quiltmaker Magazine's 100 Blocks Volume 6!  Sharon, please send me a mailing address and I'll get it out to you after the Veteran's Day holiday.

Thanks to all for the suggestions of what to do with the blocks.  I think I'll take multiple suggestions.  If you were one who suggested giving away blocks to readers (I think there were two of you), let me know via email or comment which two or three you liked best and I'll see what I can do.  Others may go into charity blocks or pillows (again, if anyone has a suggestion of who might take random quilt blocks for charity quilts, please post or send!).

Thanks for entering and enjoy the magazine!

100 Blocks Giveaway!

It's time for the giveaway post for my extra issue of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Volume 6!

As you probably know by now, I was a quilt tester for this issue and my name is listed as such on page 6.  I had to sign a confidentiality clause which kept me silent as to what I was working on until now.  I tested a total of fourteen blocks, including two of the blocks featured on the cover.  They comprised all sorts of techniques, including needleturn and fusible applique, foundation piecing, curved piecing, and embroidery.  Here is a collage of the blocks I tested:

They are as follows (with links to their blogs if available):
Top Row, from left:
1.  Doug Leko, Freedom Star
2.  Gudrun Erla, Fire Burst (to be featured on Nov. 8)
3.  Kimberly Jolly, Spring Favorite (links to her post!)
4.  Cindy Lammon, Lattice
5.  Monique Dillard, Scrollwork
Middle Row, from left:
1.  Robin Koehler, Tropical Flags (to be featured on Nov. 7)
2.  Lisa Bassett, Fan Fare
3.  Pippa Eccles Armbrester, Reflecting Cityscape
4.  Angela Walters, Boomerang
5.  Debby Kratovil, Divided Diamonds (links to her post!)
Bottom Row, from left:
1.  Susan Geddes, Chicken Surprise (links to her post!)
2.  Cheryl Brown, Swirly Geese (to be featured on Nov. 8)
3.  Paula Stoddard, So Tweet
4.  Dianne Gardner, Cat Nip

Each block was great fun to review, whether it appealed to me or not.  I did not sign up to make a full quilt from one of the blocks, but if I had, it might have been Lattice.  I really enjoyed the challenges of both Divided Diamonds and Fan Fare.  Now that I have my copy of the issue, I'm looking forward to trying some more of the blocks.  My favorite thing is to find patterns that use a lot of precuts - 1 1/2" strips, 2 1/2" strips, 5" or smaller pieces - and whip up a few from my stash cuttings.  Lattice is one of those patterns which could be made with a charm square pack, coordinating honey bun, and background fabric for great effect.  I also like finding blocks that can feature large scale prints well.  As usual, this issue does not disappoint!

Quiltmaker not only sent me a free issue to thank me for my work as a block tester, they sent me a second to give away, so I will!  I'll keep this post open for the entire duration of the blog tour (through Friday) and choose a winner on Saturday, November 10.  For a chance to win, first, make sure you're not a no-reply blogger (or leave a way for me to contact you in your comment), and second, answer me this question:  what on earth should I do with my fourteen rogue tester blocks shown above?

Thanks for reading and good luck winning a copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 6 - if not here then elsewhere on the tour!

Giveaway alert and weekend progress

First of all, Green Fairy Quilts, one of my favorite online quilt stores, is having a giveaway of Lily Ashbury Trade Winds fat quarters!  All you have to do to enter is tell them what your favorite fall releases are from their website.  I bought a charm pack of Trade Winds when I bought Lily Ashbury's Summer House jelly roll a few weeks ago, and I have my fingers crossed to win, but you should enter too!!

I had not yet posted on May's Crafting By The Numbers challenge, so here it is:

Twenty out of 31 days - not bad, considering the slow start.  You can see that I get on a roll of working on something for a few days before I switch to something else. May was spent on sewing for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, 6th edition; finishing Civil War Chronicles; the Shoes wallhanging; and starting Yankee Husband.

Speaking of Yankee Husband, I realized I planned for only twenty blocks, which would make a pretty small quilt (four feet by five feet).  So I ordered a bit more fabric to be able to make ten more blocks (five feet by six feet).  I worked on it a bit every day during the weekend and almost all day Sunday while my Honey took his girls back to their mother and then continued on to a memorial service near where he grew up.  I have the first twenty blocks sewn and pressed:
He says it looks a little military since the flying geese look a little like chevrons.  I think I spent a total of about nine hours in my studio yesterday, and I wound up the day with hand applique in front of the big TV as I began watching Downton Abbey on Netflix streaming ... loved it!  Unfortunately, I figured out after I put down my needle for the night that I seem to have "lost" most of my Dragonfly Tubing blocks.  I have a pile of finished ones but cannot find the rest that have been cut and prepared for applique.  That's pretty bad when your sewing room starts eating your projects, so I think this is a call to organize.

Along those lines, I got rid of one more sewing machine this weekend - found someone on Freecycle to take the 1960's Kenmore that is so stiff that it will only sew by manually turning the flywheel.  I didn't want to pay to have it serviced, and the lady who took it is excited to get it running again.  It's a little sad to say goodbye to the machine I learned to sew on when I was a child but it will get more love there than with me.

Tonight is quilt guild and maybe when I come home I'll start cutting the Lily Ashbury Summer House jelly roll quilt.  I can't continue on Yankee Husband until the fabric arrives (I've cut and prepped everything else), and I can't find Dragonfly Tubing (embarrassed grimace), but I want to do something in front of the big TV upstairs that gets Netflix so I can continue with episode three of Downton Abbey.

I nearly forgot to mention - we had a little birthday celebration over the weekend (mine is tomorrow) and my Honey gave me the fat eighth bundle of "Hello Luscious" I'd been aching for!  He is such a sweetie ... but next I need to think of what to do with it!!!

It's Giveaway Time!!!

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways

Thank you to the Quilting Gallery for hosting the Quilter's Blog Hop Party!  Somehow they were reading my mind and knew that I had something to give away and thought they'd help direct some traffic this way.  :-)

If you've never visited before, welcome!  I'm Kristen (Ten for short, hence the name of the blog), and I am a wife (as of January), mother, stepmother, full-time data analyst, volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate, quilt guild member, pet owner, and, since last year, blogger.  I have been quilting for over twenty years and really NEED that time to sew in order to keep my sanity.  I have quotation hanging in my sewing room which reads, "I cannot count my day complete/til needle, thread and fabric meet" and it is very true ... I feel like I missed out on an important element of my day if I have done no sewing whatsoever.

Here is a small collage (thanks to Picasa and the instructions at Skip to My Lou) of some of the projects I've featured here since I began the blog.

Now, about the giveaway!  Here's the thing:  my Honey is the most supportive husband a quilter could ever have.  He does not ever seem to think that I already have enough fabric, and every Christmas he buys me more!  This past year, he bought me half yard cuts of a number of fabrics from Kate Spain's Terrain line; the line was on my wish list but I was (of course) thinking precuts.  I couldn't think about what to do with them, so I bought some charm packs to supplement, and then a layer cake of her Good Fortune line, and then I ended up making a quilt top almost entirely of what I'd bought to supplement his gift and cut only small bits of a few of his fabrics!  Oops! So I feel compelled to share the wealth.

I am giving away seven fat quarters (is that a baker's half dozen?) of Terrain, and the classic M'Liss Rae Hawley book, "Fat Quarter Quilts."

Most of the quilts in the book start with six coordinating fat quarters and I've thrown in a seventh for some variety.
To enter, I'm not going to require to be a follower or anything, just be sure that you have a valid email address either as part of your Blogger profile or in the body of your comment.  I will try to reply to every comment before the giveaway closes on Friday, March 23, although it may take me a few days.  However, it occurred to me yesterday that this year all three of our children will be in double digits this summer, I'm panicking a little bit.  So I'm asking for advice:  what is the MOST IMPORTANT THING to remember when dealing with teenage or pre-teen kids?  Even if you don't have kids or yours aren't that old yet, you were surely a teenager once yourself and have some words of wisdom!  Please leave a comment with your answer for a chance to win!  And remember - followers who comment before midnight tonight (Friday, March 16) automatically get a second entry ... no second comment needed.

Thanks for visiting and good luck - I'm looking forward to reading the comments!

Giveaway time is coming!

I was just thinking last night that I need to have a giveaway again, and today I see that the Quilter's Blog Hop Party with Give-Away is scheduled for next week!  How fortuitous!

Blog
Hop Party with Give-Aways

I am finishing up the Spanish Treasure piecing and last night I bit the bullet and ordered additional yardage for borders and backing rather than piecing it from the half yard cuts of Terrain that my Honey gave me for Christmas.  I  felt a little bad about it, since I started this project just to use those pieces, and I never really did, but Burgundy Buttons had a great sale and I knew I would hate the back of the quilt if I hodgepodge pieced it rather than attempted a wholecloth.  So I thought I would cut those half yard cuts down to a pair of fat quarters, keep one set (maybe for a new project) and give a set away.  I may or may not add a book on quilts from fat quarters to the giveaway just to make it more fun; I'll see if I have any I can part with.

At any rate, I plan to do the same thing I did last time and put up the post on Friday before the link goes live, giving my existing followers time to get an extra entry by commenting before Saturday.  If you're interested in some Terrain fat quarters, be sure come back between noon and midnight on Friday!

Oh, one other dilemma.  I'm finishing up the details of the Gothic Windows contribution to the Virginia Quilt Museum fundraiser; their first submission deadline is March 20 and I have label on and sleeve started, and forms half completed.  What's got me stumped is "Quilter's Bio."  How am I going to write that?  What would you expect to see in a short "quilter's bio"?

Quilter's Blog Hop Party GIVEAWAY!

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways

As I mentioned previously, I'm participating in the Quilter's Blog Hop Party, which includes a giveaway at every site they list.  As of last night, they were up to 226 participants!  It begins on Saturday, when the page I linked to above will be updated with the complete list of people participating.  This is my entry.

I just began blogging this year, even though I've been quilting for twenty years now.  When I look back at what I've accomplished in the quilting realm this year, what I see more than anything are quilts made with 2 1/2" strips, including Moda jelly rolls.  So I am going to give away a jelly roll as well as the pattern for a quilt I recently made with one!
I'm giving away, to one lucky winner, Fig Tree & Company's "Jelly Girl" pattern, and a jelly roll of Moda's "Fruitcake" line by BasicGrey.  This was one of last year's Christmas lines, and is getting a little hard to find.  Here is the image of the fabrics in this line:
But it can be yours if you're lucky!  Here's how to win:

1) Become a follower of Ten Quilts, and leave me a comment that says you have done so.
AND/OR
2) Leave me a comment telling me the best book you have ever read.  I'm looking for something new to read by the fire during these winter months, so help me out!

As a reward to my current loyal readers, I will double your chances of winning if your comment is dated before Saturday, December 10, when the giveaway party links are posted.  So if your comment is dated before midnight Friday telling me you're a follower, that's two entries, and if your comment is dated before midnight Friday about the best book you've ever read, that's two more entries, for a possible total of four.  Beginning on December 10, the most entries anyone can get is two.  And remember, I will ship internationally!

The giveaway week ends on December 17, so I will post a winner on Monday morning, December 19 after I get my act together and randomly pick someone from the entries received.  Please be sure that I can email you, either through your Blogger profile or the info you leave.

Thanks for visiting - take a look around while you're here - and good luck to all!

Quilter’s Blog Hop Party with Give-Away

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways

I know that I've been a sporadic blogger lately, and in part to apologize, and in part to keep in the spirit of the holidays (and in part just because it's fun!), I've decided to participate in Quilting Gallery's Quilter's Blog Hop Party, which means Giveaway!  Actually, as of today, it looks like there will be more than 150 bloggers with giveaways!  It will begin on December 10, when the list is posted, and culminate in giveaway day on December 17.  I need to have my post up here by this coming Friday to let you know what the giveaway will be, or I won't be included in the count.

I'm thinking that it will be jelly-roll-themed, since that has been the name of the game in my sewing studio this year.  Unfortunately, the timing throws a bit of a wrench into this, since I just gave away a whole lot of goodies from my sewing room, including a jelly roll of Prayer Flag, to the quilt guild for last night's silent auction.  So I will have to put a little more thought into it than usual.

I showed off the almost-completely-bound Kaleidoscope last night at quilt guild and will put the photo here when one is posted.  I have labels to make for my three Christmas-gift quilts and then they will be ready to be wrapped.  I've not had a heck of a lot of time to sew lately, and didn't think I would.  Not that it's all bad - some of the insanity in the last week or so has been due to my Honey presenting me with a gorgeous engagement ring! - but I miss the ability to center.  I got my Civil War Chronicles BOM for December yesterday and hope to get back in there over the next few nights, especially while Honey is traveling this week.

So come back on Friday morning to check out my giveaway and link to the full list of them!  I will ship to an international winner, so if you're not in the USA, don't take yourself out of the running!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's a crazy week for us here - two and a half days of work and then hitting the road to go see my Honey's sister and my great aunt over the holiday, and hopefully coming home early enough to do some holiday decorating.  I finished with binding and label on the Prayer Flag quilt that I'm giving to my great aunt last night and will try to get a photo today to amend this post with.  But I don't want to hold things up.

I brought home four sewing machines from Mom's sewing room this past weekend - I didn't realize she had a Bernina Activa 140 as well.  I posted on Craigslist (local to Dad) for the free fabric stash.  I hope I get a taker.  Nothing so far.  Selling the machines will take more organizing than I can do right now.

I don't really post much about giveaways and sales, but here are a few worth mentioning.  First, the giveaway from Lily Pad Quilting includes a tutorial for a star block she named after my own little town and our star.  You could win a Go Baby or precuts from Green Fairy Quilts.  It's open until Monday so you have a little time.  Second, SewCalGal made a great post about Black Friday quilt sales.  If you're in the market for some goodies, or want to drop a hint to someone who is(!), check it out!  Burgundy Buttons has Terrain on sale through tomorrow and I've already forwarded that tidbit to my Honey since it's on the list I sent him!

I hope that it's a safe and happy holiday for you and your family if you're somewhere that celebrates American Thanksgiving.

contest entry

I'm part of the Quilting Gallery Quilting Bloggers ring, and they have a weekly themed quilt contest.  I entered this week; the theme is Veterans' Quilts.  I uploaded one photo and a 300-character story, but I'm expounding upon it here.

I began this quilt around 2003 and the start of the Iraq War.  I hadn't any special intention for it, really.  A friend was being deployed and I just began sewing.  His deployment was eventually canceled and I still had a quilt top I wasn't sure what to do with.  I thought about finishing it and raffling it as a fundraiser for something military-related.  But then I left my ex-husband and all my sewing room was packed up for years while I moved from tiny apartment to tiny apartment to tiny house, and then eventually here to Virginia.

The same week I moved into a house with a sewing room, my mother passed away.  My cousin Laura and her husband Justin came to the memorial service.  As my dad introduced the family he mentioned that Justin had just returned from his fourth tour of duty abroad as a naval officer.  Now, I knew that he was often away on aircraft carriers just by being Facebook friends with Laura, and I always marveled at how she managed to work and care for two small boys (one with considerable health issues) while he was gone.  I decided to finish the quilt and give it to them to thank them all for his service.

It was the first quilt top I gave to Star City Stitchery to stitch.  Laura there quilted a star design into it, which you can see from this picture:
The back, though, has some great military girl pinup fabric that I bought when I did the quilt top.  You can see a little below, which is the picture entered in the contest.

Voting is underway - go check out the Veteran themed quilts and vote for your favorites (it doesn't have to be mine!).  You can select up to four.  The prize includes some nice Kimono silk thread which I would love to try out with my appliqué project.

In other news, I won a copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 4 for my response on this post!

I've been entering to win a copy all over the internet and while I'll keep visiting the designers' blogs for the tour, I'll stop entering to win.  That means better chances for you, so go check it out and enter!!  And while I'm on the topic of giveaways, Green Fairy Quilts is having one also where you can win a favorite precut!  Go check it out!

reporting in

I gave the demonstration on needle-turn appliqué at quilt guild this past Monday night.  Even though I thought I was fully prepared, I was nervous ... and more so when I saw that the woman who could probably be considered our guild's resident expert on hand appliqué in the audience.  I prepared a handout which made it to the guild's website along with a few pictures (I have no future as a hand model!).  I felt like I had a lot to cover in a very short time.  To me, the big challenge in hand appliqué is preparation of the work.  How do you put the pieces where they belong?  How do you mark the lines on which you sew?  I tried to cover a few ways to answer each of these questions as well as demonstrate the actual stitch technique (including points), but I'm not quite sure if it was too much information in too short a time to be helpful.  I am glad that I did it, though, because in researching the presentation I learned about back-basting, which can best be explained in this link from All About Applique.  It may permanently replace the freezer paper technique that I've been using.  Considering I first learned needle-turn appliqué in a half-day seminar taught by Piece O'Cake's Becky Goldsmith and Linda Jenkins in Lancaster, Pennsylvania years ago, I won't feel too bad if I couldn't sum it up in 20 minutes.

My Honey left on a trip yesterday morning and won't return until Thursday.  Yesterday I worked out after work (I am up to twice a week and my mile run is now around 14 minutes) and then went to the grocery store before returning home to remember his words yesterday morning that we had no hot water in the shower (I often shower or bathe at night and wanted to last night!).  Sure enough, the best I could get out of the tap was lukewarm, which made for a very quick and uncomfortable shower this morning.  Luckily we have a shower in the ladies' room at the office, which I will take advantage of tomorrow morning before the plumber comes tomorrow afternoon.  However, we have no electrical outlets in our ladies' room, which means no hair washing (and drying).  Ugh.  If only I had had the foresight to bring a towel to work today.

On the bright side, his being gone means I can do some sewing tonight.  I would like to rearrange those Ready Set Star! blocks in a few other ways, sew a block for my son's quilt, and maybe piddle a bit on some other projects.  Stay tuned for photos

If you aren't already aware, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, volume 4 is being released and the quilting blog world is talking about it.  Go to Quiltmaker's blog and get in on the fun to win an issue or other prizes!  I was fortunate enough to have won volumes 2 and 3 this past spring and one of my UFOs is from those issues using blocks designed by Quiltmaker's own Denise Starck.  She has now created an adorable paper-pieced hat:
to go with her earlier blocks already planned for my quilt - the purse and shoes!

Of course, I only have one pair of shoes done so far but seeing her hat has gotten me itching to get back to it.

jelly roll mania!

It shouldn't be a secret that my favorite precut is the jelly roll.  I just love 2 1/2" strips and I keep my eye out for things I can do with them.  My guild is planning a strip swap beginning in January and I'm already cutting from my stash to participate!!  Three of the quilts I've made so far this year were from 2 1/2" strips, all projects from Kim Brackman's books.  And then this past week/weekend I whipped up another quilt from a jelly roll, this time using a prepurchased pattern called Jelly Girl from Fig Tree Quilts:
This started out as one of those "leaders and enders" projects while piecing Kaleidoscope ... I needed to have something to push through the machine so that I could get up to take all my work to press without having to cut the threads.  Since you start by piecing the jelly roll strips in pairs and then cutting from that, it was so easy and perfect.  I used the Prayer Flag line by April Cornell for Moda.  And I found the most perfect cream colored background while shopping at Schoolhouse Fabrics in Floyd on Saturday.
The quilt went together so easily and my points look pretty good too.

I'm pleased with how it turned out.  I have one more border to add ... since no one is selling Prayer Flag yardage in my local stores that I can find, I ordered some on eBay and it will arrive within the week.  No, I don't know what I will do with the quilt, but I'm somewhat considering giving it to my great aunt for whom I've been serving as power of attorney, since she was greatly on my mind this last week ... she fell and broke her hip while I was on vacation and I'm told she is now back in the nursing home and doing well.  I don't even think she remembers who I am at this point, but hopefully she would still appreciate a quilt.

I love, love, LOVE quilts using jelly rolls that don't LOOK like they use jelly rolls.  Which is why I'm so anxious to get my hands on this brand-spanking new book by Kimberly Einmo called Jelly Roll Quilt Magic.  I mean look at this quilt ... from a JELLY ROLL!

And even though I'm hoping *I* win, she's giving away a copy of it on her website - just go comment here.  If I don't win, I'm going to have to buy a copy since I have SO many strips and jelly rolls around here.  I am especially excited after reading the following from the amazon.com review of this book:  "Last but not least, Kimberly experimented using precuts in a Round Robin exchange with international quilting friends. The idea and the results are amazing."  How timely with my guild's exchange scheduled for 2012!
